The Water Slide

E-mail Print PDF
I never thought I would be so nervous to get on such a thing. Dont get me wrong, I'm not afraid of heights at all. I enjoy many thrill rides, but this experiece affected me so much that I believed it would be the first and last time going on the ride.
This event took place in  hot, humid, sticky weather. I was a small ten year old. It was a family vacation to Orlando Florida. Was it a very fun family vacation? Yes! I went with a couple of family members. We went to many amusement parks such as Disney World, Sea World etc. "Wet and Wild" was where the incident ocurred.
Wet and Wild is a water park, every ride is a water ride. I went on every thrill water ride that caught my attention. All the rides were pretty cool, especially the wave pool.
The slide was the highest ride in the water park. It was the highest and the fastest. It's the only ride you can spot from a mile away. You can see people getting on it and sliding sdown. It didnt look cary at all. My stepfather, aunt, and I were very excited to get on the slide. The ride looked like a piece of cake. All you had to do was slide down. Whats hard about that?
It felt like eternity getting to the top of the ride, it felt like forever to reach to the top of the slide. I felt like I walked up 20 flights of stairs. I began to panic, when I realized how high I actually was. I became more excited just the adrenaline feeling came over me. for a second I thought " Oh my gosh, I cant wait, I cant wait." It was getting more humid and i was dying of thirst.
Finally I reached the top, the line was short, I was waiting patiently. The ride did not seem to look nerve wrecking because people were just getting on and off. I had a bit of a smirk on my face. I didnt want the people to notice the fear that I was actually experiencing. Since when Sade is afraid of a simple slide ride! Never But deep down inside I just wanted to get it over with. Then it was my turn. When I looked down the slide I really started to panic. I was debating as to whether go for it or chicken out? I felt like I had a knot in my throat, like if i was choking. It felt like a burning sensation, my head was spinning at that moment I definitely wanted out!
Well, sure enough I was lying on the slide while the instructor told me to cross my arms and legs. I basically blanked out, I didnt hear what he said. I just kept looking down down and my surroundings became blurry. Everyone below me looked like ants. My stomach was twisting, my body ached. I knew that there was no way out and then I slide down.
Since I didnt pay attention to the instructor, I had a panic attack while I was sliding down, my arms were moving like a bird with wings. I looked as if I was falling from a building. I felt the pressure of the water going up my bathing suit. My heart fekt like it was coming out of my mouth.
My heart was back where it belonged when it reached land. My family was laughing at me, I looked pale white, like a walking zombie. My mother was worried sick and thought that I injured myself. She helped me up and I was very glad to be near her. My body was still shivering but it started to cool down.
It was a very funny moment in Orlando Florida. Would I ever tell my friends about this experience? Of course but I will never get on that ride again.
