First Time in High School

E-mail Print PDF
My first time in high school was so busy. I walked inside of the school, there were a lot of students talking, and walking around in the hallways. When it was time for another class to start, I went all over the place, looking for the classroom number and also asking different teachers. Meeting my teachers for the first time as a freshman was so nice. I liked some of my teachers and some I didn’t. After the years passed by, I’m got so used to the school, the teachers, and some of the teachers too. Now I don’t have to worry about high school anymore because I already graduated.

Being in the school for the first time was not cool as I thought it would be. Going into the classroom, it was all dusty around the room, on the floor, and around the windows. High school is different because you learn a lot of new things. Learn things that you never even thought of learning. You have a different experience. After high school, you go straight to college or not. For me, it was totally different because throughout the years of going to school, I was so used to staying in the same classroom with the same teacher and going down to lunch for a certain amount of minutes. In high school, you have to do everything by yourself, make sure you sign up for what college or university you want to go to, SUNY or CUNY, your choice. When in high school, you make sure you do what you have to do. You do the best you can to get the grade you deserve. There’s a lot of tests to take, there’s a slight chance that you might pass or fail, I mean who knows? You have to make sure you do everything. Complete your classes within your 4 years pay your prom dues, senior dues. Being very nervous going to the classrooms you never ever have been in before. Getting to know every teacher you never met before. Feels kind of good because you’re going to get used to this every time you attend school. Basically that’s what happens to everybody else to everybody else who’s a freshman in high school. What has it been like for you to meet a new person? Were you nervous or excited? Well, students should expect to meet new teachers and students, so they shouldn’t be anxious about it.

For me it was kind of hard because I don’t usually like to meet anybody. I’m not used to communicating with other people. I’m not the type of person who talks that much. Like if I’m in class, students like to interrupt the teachers by talking, but me, I will just sit there and not say anything, I’m the quiet person throughout the whole period. Also in class, I don’t like to participate either because I don’t want to say anything that might be considered as wrong or sound as stupid and I don’t want students to start laughing at me for what I said. I hate when that happens to me, it’s just so wrong. So the only time I will participate in answering questions is when the teachers call on me. Now that I thought about it, I tried to participate more often so I could earn more points and get credit for it. Sometimes things are hard to do, but a lot of people can learn to do it better. That was my experience of being in high school for the first time. After getting used to being in high school, it was time to stop playing around and get serious. That’s how I finished my high school years. 2005-2009. I graduated from Manhattan Center for Science & Mathematics.
