Tanya L. Vazquez

Reporter

As you've already seen my name is Tanya L. Vazquez. I was born on September 24th 1982. My family is from Puerto Rico. I live with my grandmother, mother, evil stepfather, two little sisters and my dog, Tiffy.

I live in the Lower East Side of Manhattan were the teenagers act ridiculous. Everybody wants to be a "gangsta", I am ashamed of my neighborhood. Then again maybe if there were free activities in my neighborhood so many kids wouldn't be wasting their life.

I attend City-as-School and will be receiving my diploma in November 2000. City-as-school is an alternative highschool that helped my boyfriend graduate and now is helping me to graduate. I work in Foot Locker and deal with all types of personalities all the time. I like working with people especially the youth so I intend to do it for a living.

I will be attending college next semester studying human services. After earning my bachelors in science I plan on working to help teenagers better their life because I know how hard it is to live it. I personally don't think adolescence aren't getting much respect. It bothers me when we are automatically spoken down to by adults. Some teenagers have been through more things in their life than most adults have. One of the things I hate the most is throwing up, therefore, I don't drink. I'm allergic to macaroni and cheese, but I can eat cheese and macaroni separately.
