What’s HarlemLive to me? First, it is a life changing experience. HarlemLive helped me get in touch with people my age as well as older teens. I was a little shy when I first joined; especially because I didn’t recognize anyone. My colleagues helped me get in touch with putting time into my work, and because of their kind support, I want to thank them.

Nonetheless I didn’t only gain experience, I gained friendship and a voice towards the world around us. The first time I interviewed someone, I was very nervous, but I knew I had to be determine for the sake of know-how. The support I received from the person I interviewed liked what I was doing and that compliment made it easier to go through with the dialogue. I felt like I made a true difference when I saw my first story posted on the web and I was proud of myself. The fact that I gained experience, friendship, and a voice towards the world in one place, I know that this establishment has changed my life.

Even though journalism wasn’t my main priority in life, I often rethink about changing this to be my career. So, to answer the question, “What is HarlemLive to me?” it is experiences, friendships, and a voice towards the world around us.
