The experience that I have received from working at HarlemLive has been tremendous. I’ve met people that I’ve never seen before and they’ve been very nice. At HarlemLive, I feel so content working with the people I work with, it’s worth my dedication and time. It’s been great, I've learned various ways to make things happen. At HL you get to write stories, interview people, and take pictures. You get to explore the life of a journalist, photographer, and a filmmaker.
Beyond that, it is very enjoyable. I've gone out in the streets of Harlem and met different people from all walks of life. I've gotten great stories with the research that we do. I've learned about all kinds of things that I never seen or heard of before. I’ve only been at HL for a short time, but I feel like it’s been longer. I got to see the great places and things that Harlem offers.
Also at HarlemLive we have a lot of freedom, we go out on our own and come up with the ideas for our articles. Originality is a major part of everything we do here. We have to use our thoughts and ideas to become a better writers. It is up to us to show people that we are up to something good. As a teenager I feel that HarlemLive offers a lot, you get to know the real thing. What I mean by the real thing is that you work and interview people who at times are celebrities, you get to a chance to make influential contacts, and work with the most up-to- date technology. You get to post your own stories on the Internet. You get very familiar working with computers. The freedom at Harlem live is not limited. As long as you do your work everything is good.
One more thing that I have to mention is that we have some of the best editors. They really help out a lot with what we do. They help persuade us when we need motivation and give us great ideas. I really can’t say how glad I am for being part of HarlemLive. I learned the independence of what it is to be a better person, writer, etc. Not only that but also how important it is to do team work and help each other out.
I have learned to communicate and express my thoughts with my teammates. We have our differences but we find ways to make it through and that’s what really counts. We support each other in what ever we do and it is good to be at a place and work with teenagers like that.
After all, I had fun and I really enjoyed what I did. The people there are extremely nice and adorable. It’s been a wonderful experience and hope to come back in the future.
