Tips To surviving a recession in NYC

E-mail Print PDF

The United States has officially announced that we are in a recession but we will still be spending so, how do we spend WELL, and on budget? Know everyone is aware that the United States is once again facing a horrible financial crisis. I myself have learned how to manage spending well in NYC. Living in NYC allows you many opportunities. I will be going over things I have learned. Being 18, and a senior I pay my own phone bill. Many fellow youth have internships, and jobs, and we need to no how to spend what money we do earn well.

I recently was looking to take a close friend out for his birthday. Now making minimum wage, I had to look into some things. I ended up spend $60 for the whole night. Yes I took him to dinner and a movie, plus transportation.  The movies coast exactly $24.00, and the dinner $30.00, and I got a $6.00 metro card $2.00 extra for where I was going the next day. So say you had only $50.00 you could take three friends out to the movies and cover everyone’s card fare. It takes some thought and some hard work.

In an interview with Angie Tobal, 18 years old, I asked her, “What are some major things you do to save money,” She replied that she saves money in a saving account, and purposely leaves money at home so it can’t be spent. Next when asked, “Are you personally affected by the recession?” she stated that she feels that she is affected by the amount of money the government has to give in the form of fasfa (that’s the financial ad app). Also she was talking about how some things are more expensive now a day. Than I asked, “How have people you know been affected by this recession?” Retail clerks have been laid off. New people hired were laid off.  When I asked her if she would you be interested in knowing about tips to save she said, “Yes!”

I recently went out for a mid day luncheon at a restaurant that specializes in fondue. There were three of us. We shared a large fondue bowl, we all ordered the soup special, and ordered a thing of Mac and cheese each. The bill was 80. To say the least, this is a high-end fondue restaurant on Madison ave. Know matter what you want to do with a little research it can become a night of a lifetime.
