Harlem Live went out to a barber shop on 125th and Lexington to ask patrons what they thought of the Puffy trial. Opinions seem to run in favor of the rap icon, though some suggested that Puffy's own need for attention may have contributed to his current situation.

I think they are going after him because he is a star and he's black.

What affect does this trial have on the hip-hop Industry?
They (rap artists) need to behave themselves more. They need to calm down.

How do you think this will affect Puffy's future and image in hip-hop?
I think it will make Puffy realize he's not above the law.

Does this affect your opinion of him and his music?
He's all right. He's a young man who's succeeded. So I like to see that.

Do you think he could be guilty?
Whether he did it or not is up to the jury.

In what way would Jennifer Lopez affect the trial if she were to take the stand?
I think Jennifer Lopez is very wise. It could have hurt her career. I like Jennifer Lopez and I think the trial would be bad for her.

People are always watching stars. They too make mistakes. I think he is a genius.

I think anybody [is capable of comitting a crime) when it comes down to it.
