This Artist, Actress and Activist was born on May 25, 1975.

"Good Things Come to Those Who Wait" is what Lauryn Hill's life has been all about. Taking the world by storm 4 years in a row is not an easy thing to do but Hill has done while being an activist, actress, rapper/singer, wife, mother of two, and most importantly a lady. This native of South Orange, New Jersey first came to her glory with the multitalented "Fugees." The first album, "Blunted On Reality" went unnoticed by the wide public; the real breakthrough came with the\ group's sophomore album, "The Score," that featured the Roberta Flack hit "Killing Me Softly." "The Score" stills remains the worldwide top-selling rap album of all times (17 million units shipped). She earned two Grammys (Best rap album and Best r&b performance by a duo or group) in 1996, gave birth to Zion (father Rohan Marley-Bob Marley's son), before releasing the self-written and self-produced stellar solo album, "The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill," that topped Billboard charts the moment it came out. It garnered Hill 5 Grammy awards the most ever presented to a female artist. Hill has also worked with various organizations including the Refugee Project and the Fresh Air Fund. To Hill it is all about the youth, she founded her own camp with the Fresh Air Fund in 1997 called "Camp Lauryn" to underprivileged kids something positive to do over the summer.

"This sister whose beautiful voice sings conscious lyrics of love and life is a favorite of mine. Her Refugee Project is well needed in the community. It's also amazing that she is the mother of Bob Marley's grandchildren". -Abiodun, New Media Artist

"To me Lauryn is a real example on how to be a real woman. She loves her work, her man, her children, her God, her success, and she makes no apology for any of them". -Regina Thompson, High School Student
