New Theories of Depression Focus on Brain's Two Sides

The contrasting therapy and theory on manic depression from Dr. Schiffer and Dr. Pettigrew scarcely represent the innumerable perspectives, and solutions proposed to explain different diseases, and disorders within the scientific community. It is to our benefit to be well informed about these things. They will affect us in some fashion, whether it be tomorrow or in two years. Since these theories were introduced some time ago, they have already had an impact on our thinking. The stereotypes that pervade American society that dogmatically explain away intuitiveness, emotional sensitivity, logic and other sex associated traits are being corroborated by science. Twenty years ago when left brain, right brain theories were first introduced, people tried to apply them to every situation. For example, to say or believe that males are physically incapable of emotional sensitivity. These theories, yet to be proven imply that our personalities, strengths and weaknesses may be a function of nature.
