“I'm honored to service teenagers," says Lia Schorr, 63, founder/owner of Lia Schorr Day Spa.
This quiet establishment, which is located on Lexington Avenue, in the heart of New York City's midtown streets. The day spa opened May of 1981. However, Lia Schorr has been in the business since 1974. She's written three books and has an aesthetic institute for students interested in cosmetics.
Lia, who's an Israeli native, grew up as a farmer and just as all young girls, she was insecure. She was self-conscious of her "flawed" body and her distinctive freckles. She then started making her own masks to beautify herself. Subconsciously, years later, she took a makeup course and started as a facial consultant. Now, she manages the business and runs the institute.
Not many day spas service teenagers, but the Lia Schorr day spa does. Lia believes it's her obligation to help teenagers pamper and beautify themselves so they can have confidence, unlike she did when she was younger. Because she can identify with teenagers, she can provide the services that may be helpful to them. The teen services consist of facials, manicures/pedicures, body massages and everything else they have for adults. However, the difference varies in price, rather than time. The spa also offers packages that consists of full treatment options, holiday specials and teen parties.
The spa is pretty peaceful for private individuals, yet lively for lavish teenage parties. The subtle pink decor provides the customers with a sense of tranquility. There are seven facial rooms used for a variety of facial treatments and a well kept manicurist/pedicurists area. The receptionist welcomes you from the elevator with a warm greeting, and then you're sent off for your appointment. The workers are professional and cordial.
Lia Schorr has maintained a reputation as one of the best in the business, due to the reviews as Best Day Spa from the #1 online guide and other reviews from prominent newspapers and magazines. Not only has she received good notices, she services well known celebrities such as Alvin Ailey and Calvin Klein. Lia Schorr has definitely reached her goal as a role model for the younger generation.
"I am a business woman, an army veteran, a writer and a role model," says Lia.
