Joe Money is a hip-hop artist, hailing from South Ozone Park, Queens. He picked up rap when he was just 12 years old, and has been rapping seriously since last year. He comes from a family line of rappers ranging from old school to new school. Besides hip-hop he also models for F2D clothing and he is a part of a music company titled, Fun House, founded by local celebrity Flip from Southside, Queens. I got the opportunity to sit down with the young upcoming rapper, here is an inside look at the life, career and goals of Joe Money.
HL: What made you want to become a rapper?
JM: It was a way for me to stay out of trouble. I ended up being talented, very talented at it and I persevered at it.
HL: How do your peers influence you?
JM: They influence me to keep making music and they also influence the type of music I make.
HL: What inspires your rhymes?
JM: I would say my life, the hood and fun stuff
HL: What keeps you going?
JM: Anyone that is on they Grind!!!!!
HL: I know you’ve been doing this seriously for the past year, has that lead to any shows, or tours?
JM: Yes. I have been getting a lot of shows done. I have one the 26th (of July) at Battlefest and another one at the Teen Promo Awards, where I am performing alongside Kyah Baby.
HL: You have a few tracks that are building quite a buzz, any plan for a music video?
JM: Not yet. I will be having my first video shoot in August. I appeared in one video shoot, the “Dancing On Me” video shoot with Jim Jones, Ronz Brownz, and DJ Webstar.
HL: Everyone has haters, have you encountered any yet?
JM: Yes I do have them and I Love them. They keep me going. They make me want to do better. Without them hating who am I?
HL: What messages do you feel are important to send out in your music? Why?
JM: Stay out of trouble. Always stay positive, do positive things with yourself and you will succeed in life.
HL: Tell me more about Fun House Music?
JM: Fun House Music consists of Flip, which is the leader of the group, Kyah Baby, and Joe Money. It is our music label
HL: How is your music different from the normal music out there?JM: Our music is one of a kind. We are one big family.
