As an entertainer and musician, Sean Paul has sold more than 10 million albums in more places than he has performed, which include several states in the U.S., Europe, Africa, and in the Caribbean. He is one of several reggae artists who have emerged from Jamaica in the West Indies, but in his performance style, promotion and marketing, has surpassed many to achieve world fame, comparable to that claimed by Bob Marley.
While Paul’s musical style is not restricted to beats and quick tempo music for dance-halls, his uniqueness and the popularity of his lyrics have contributed to making him extremely popular.
With the release of the single, “Gimme Da Light,” which became an instant hit, it catapulted him to instant fame, and it seemed as though the musical world could not get enough of him.
When Paul appeared on ABC-Channel 7’s morning program, Good Morning America, on Friday, Jul 17, 2009, while it was advertised that he would perform, many people who gathered in New York’s Central Park, did not really believe he would show. Many people in the audience ooohed and ahhed, and marveled over the heaviness of his distinctive Jamaican accent and the dialect he spoke.
To share in the experience of seeing and hearing him perform and to be able to get into an advantageous position, hundreds of people had to been up and traveling to Central Park before 5:00am so as to be in place for the show which was scheduled for 8:00am.
