Good Morning America

E-mail Print PDF
Okay so basically I love being on tv and having my face be seen for million of viewers nationwide…… I mean wouldn’t you?? So basically I woke up at 5 am in the morning, looked at my clock and shook my head as all the nerves in my body reluctantly fighting me to go back to sleep. But then a voice popped in my head saying “ Maurita, Wake up you are going to be on TV, Maurita wake up you are going to be on tv! . That voice in my mind triggered  my thought of waking up and getting ready to go to Good Morning America. Upon arrival to my destination , butterflies swam through my stomach as the thought of being on tv and representing my organization flowed through my mind. Thinking about how far I’ve came since the time I just saw Harlem Live 3 positions  on the sign up syep sheet. Thinking about all the places I have been so far and the experiences I can think about made me get Goosebumps. Thinking about what I want to say about Harlem Live wasn’t that hard. I can easily describe it in three words: Fun, live and energetic. When meeting up with my team members and seeing the posters for the first time, an exhilarating feeling came on to me as the excitement rushed through my veins and sweat started to come down my forehead. Arriving on 42nd st this early in the morning I wasn’t expecting bright lights and dancing machines but to my surprise it was the same old 42nd st I have  seen in the movies and on advertisements. As we walked towards Good Morning America we saw the crowd of people lined up. There wasn’t a lot which was great to my surprise. When we arrived and we saw the set , it finally sunk in. We are going to be On TV and everybody would get a chance to hear about that little crowded  basement on the corner of 123st where voices and stories are born . Waiting and waiting. Waiting and waiting for our chance to be on T.V. When 8:15 arrived we got the disappointing news that we weren’t going to be on T.V anymore. The disappointing news crushed my spirit has the heavy preparations of lip gloss and eyeshawdow clashed with the tears coming down my face. Waking up this early for NOTHING. Getting a cute outfit for NOTHING. Making the posters for NOTHING. So basically you are probably wondering what did I get out of waking up at 5 am in the morning? An H& M Shopping trip on 42nd st and a  disappointing face and memory that I can look back and laugh at.
