Bringing Kids Together Using Media

E-mail Print PDF
tiffaniknowlesTiffani Knowles was born on October 21,1982. She lived in Miami than moved to New York City. "The two states are similar and have the same diversity" she said.

Tiffani attends NYU, she is studying for her graduates degree.

She started as an intern at NextNext Entertainment, but was later hired to conduct community outreach to recruit students to join NextNext entertainment's youth television program Chat the Planet and Snap.

Chat the Planet and Snap allow students to express there thoughts freely and comunicate despite cultral and racial differences.

Joey: What is the mission of Chat the Planet?

Tiffani:Chat the Planet is all about bringing young people together. The goal is for two countries to talk about each others opinions. Her inspirational quote is : I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angles, nor principalities, nor power, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to seperate me from the love of God which is in Jesus Christ our love.

Joey: How and where do you recruit people to be on Chat the Planet?

Tiffani: They advertise it on craigs list and they get a lot of response. They have to be very political in order to be on the show. Chat the Planet teams up with universities and colleges and get teens that way too.

Akhym: Can you describe the type of people that are on Chat the Planet?

Tiffani: Well we really like to get culturally people with different backgrounds. They are usually educated and knowledgeable so they know what they are talking about. We try to get kids that have already graduated high school. We also have some kids from other countries that have experience in US politics.

Joey: Where did the idea to include different countries come from?

Tiffani: The executive producer of the show came up with it. Her name is Laurie Meadoff. She had the idea when she was in South Africa. She had seen a guy doing a TV show that is similar to Chat the Planet but only with people from Africa, and his show was about different ideas in Africa instead of different countries.
The goal of the show is to have communicatio in other countries. The show only does the US perspective, like for example US in Africa or US in China.

Akhym: How did you get involve in the organization?

Tiffani: Started as an intern for a week then was hired to do the show Snap. Chat the Planet is a two hour show and after that is Snap, but still both works for NextNext Entertainment.

Joey: What are your hobbies and interests?

Tiffani: Dancer, Ballet, Jazz, Step, tap, African dance, Etc. I’m also a writer working on a magazine called Newd Magazine.( It’s not an adult magazine) it’s a spiritual magazine based on New York and Miami.
